Classification of Goods and Services

According to trademark laws, the entire range of goods and services is categorized into 45 classes. A trademark applicant must identify the correct and relevant class under which they wish to file the trademark application.

Filing of Trademark Application

After a trademark application has been classified, it should be sent to the Trademark Registry along with prescribed documentation such as the applicant's name and address.

Examination of the Application

The TM registry will verify the trademark application and verify if it meets the formal requirements. Once the formality check is completed, the trademark application will be examined by the TM registry.

Publication of Trademark

The trademark will be published in the Trademark Journal after approval by the Trademark Registry. Suppose anyone objects to a trademark being registered. In that case, they may file a Notice of Opposition to the Trademark Registry with the prescribed fee within four months from the date of the Journal.

Registration of Trademark

After four months from the date of the Journal advertisement, the TM registry will issue a Certificate of TM Registration to the applicant.
